India and West Indies go head to head in the third and final ODI in Trinidad on July 27. The hosts have already won the series winning the first two games and will be looking for a whitewash. Windies, on the other hand, will be looking to avoid the same. Both teams then play a five-match T20I series with the first game starting on July 29.

India chased down 312 in the second ODI with two balls and two wickets to spare. Axar Patel was the hero of the match with him scoring a quickfire 64 off 35 deliveries. Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer scored the fifties as well in the chase.

“I think this is a special one. It came at a crucial time and also helped the team to win the series. We have done the same in the IPL. We just needed to remain calm and keep the intensity up. I was playing an ODI after close to 5 years. I would want to continue performing like this for my team” said Axar Patel.

Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran lamented on not consolidating the game in the final six overs of the Indian innings. India needed more than 100 runs with half their side back in the pavilion but the Windies’ bowlers could not remove Axar Patel which was the turning point.

“Definitely, last couple of overs we didn’t hold our nerves. Last 6 overs, we lost the game. We felt a spinner was easier to hit. We just needed one wicket to seal the game but Axar played really well” he said after the Windies lost the second ODI.
