Former Indian national selector Saba Karim wants Indian team management to play Arshdeep Singh in the remaining four matches of the T20I series against the West Indies.

The left-arm fast bowler played in his second T20I game on Friday when India clashed with the West Indies in the first T20I match in Trinidad.

Arshdeep picked a couple of wickets to finish his spell with figures 2/24 from four overs at an economy rate of 6.

Arshdeep was hit for a six and a four by West Indies opener Kyle Mayers but bounced back with a short ball and got the batter caught at mid-wicket. He bowled a sterling inswinging yorker to clean up Akeal Hosein.

India won the game by 68 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the five match series.

Arshdeep Singh can prove to be a big asset for India: Saba Karim

Karim opined that Arshdeep will be tested with his real skills if he plays all the matches in this series.

I hope Arshdeep gets to play all the remaining four games. That’s how we can test him in all kinds of situations and that’s how he can be a regular option for Team India in the future. If the management plays him in all the fixtures, and if he does well in them, he could prove to be a big asset for the side,” Karim said on India News.

“Arshdeep Singh is emerging as a very useful option. He is a tall left-arm pacer and his speed has also increased lately. He has good experience of playing T20 cricket for two years and has also travelled with the national side on several occasions.”

“He is doing strength training and that’s why is able to generate more speed. He always had variations. But it is even more effective when you have good speed along with variations. If not in the playing XI, he can surely be a part of the squad,” the former Indian keeper added.

India will play the second T20I match against the West Indies on Monday at the Warner Park in St Kitts.
