IND vs WI: India's Predicted Playing XI Against West Indies, 1st ODI

India take on West Indies in the first ODI in Trinidad on July 22, Friday. This match kickstarts a full-fledged series comprising of three ODIs and five T20Is. The three ODI games will take place from July 22 to July 27. Then, the five T20I games will be played from July 29 to August 7.
The BCCI and CWI have announced the ODI squads for the three-match series. The IND vs WI series will witness 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. All the matches will be played in West Indies. All the ODI games will start at 7 PM IST, 9:30 AM local time. All the T20I games will commence at 8 PM IST, 10:30 AM local time.

Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the Indian side in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant. KL Rahul is still recovering from his groin injury which he succumbed before the T20I series against South Africa. Pant will be back for the T20I series. Shikhar Dhawan (C)

Dhawan will lead the Indian team in the ODI series against West Indies. He plays just ODI cricket in recent times and has another chance to stake a claim for his inclusion in the 50-over World Cup next year.

Ishan Kishan (WK)

In the absence of Rishabh Pant, Kishan will be a part of the Indian playing XI for the first T20I and will also open the batting, He has been a part of the Indian team since the South Africa seris followd by the Ireland series and the England series.
Shreyas Iyer

The ODI series and the T20I series against West Indies is Iyer’s last chance to stake a claim for his inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad.
Suryakumar Yadav

SKY will bat at number four in the first ODI against West Indies. He is fresh off his maiden T20I ton that he scored in the series against England. He also played a good hand in the ODI series against England which India won.
Deepak Hooda

Hooda might be preferred over Sanju Samson on current form. He has been in good form since the IPL due to which he was first included in the Ireland T20I series and then in the T20I series against England.
Ravindra Jadeja

Jadeja has been batting like a dream since the last two years and is among the top all-rounders across formats. He is almost undroppable in this Indian team across formats and plays like a truer all-rounder.
Shardul Thakur

Thakur at number seven extends India’s batting order just a little more. He played his last ODI incidentally against West Indies in Ahmedabad earlier this year.
Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan should be the second seamer in India’s playing XI for the first ODI against West Indies. He has more pace than he can extract from the otherwise batting-friendly track of Trinidad.
Mohammed Siraj

Siraj who is a red-ball specialist for India has been given a chance to prove his mettle in ODI cricket. He would like to utilise his opportunity to cement his place in India’s ODI side.
Arshdeep Singh

He made his T20I debut at Rose Bowl against England. The first ODI is a good opportunity for him to make is ODI debut and prove his potential in the 50-over format.
Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal completes India’s playing XI for the first ODI against West Indies. He is the second specialist spinner in the side alongside Jadeja.
