West Indies take on India in the second T20I in St Kitts on July 31. India won the first T20 of the five-match series are currently leading the series 1-0. Windies need to win this match to not get them into a must-win situation in the last three games. The final two games will be played at Lauderhill in Florida

India came out all guns blazing in the first T20I. Rohit Sharma (64) gave his team a brilliant start and Dinesh Karthik finished it batting at seven. In between, the middle-order could not do their job to the best of their ability. Shreyas Iyer (0), Rishabh Pant (14), Hardik Pandya (21) and Ravindra Jadeja (16) hardly scored any runs to help Rohit Sharma.

“The guys who are set need to carry on for longer and the way we finished off the first innings was a great effort. When we finished the first 10 overs, we didn’t think we could get to 190. It was a great effort from the boys and great finish. There are three facets of the game which we are trying to improve. We gotta try and back the ideas about executing it with the bat” he particularly spoke about India’s batting effort.

For West Indies, it was another disappointing batting performance. None of their batters got any kind of start chasing a big total and they reached 122/8 in their 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran himself scored just 18 while Rovman Powell and Shimron Hetmyer scored 14 each as the Windies’ middle-order faltered as well. The big West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder also failed to perform with the bat.

“The players are feeling hurt, it’s the first game of the series and we are looking to bounce back. 18 overs it was 150 I guess and then they took the momentum away from us, we just have to work on our discipline. The spinners did well and we have to look at some of the combinations going ahead” said Pooran.
