Former Indian fast bowler RP Singh criticized the decision to rest Virat Kohli for the Windies Series and claimed that while he was playing, the idea of taking a rest when one was out of form did not happen.

For the upcoming limited overs series against the West Indies, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has rested. Some previous greats and industry experts did not agree with the choice to rest the 33-year-old because he has been in poor form for a while.

India will go to the Caribbean islands to compete in a white-ball series against the hosts once the current England series concludes, and for that reason, the Indian team management has rested Virat Kohli.

The top right-handed batsman has been experiencing form issues for a while now. In the past 31 months, he has failed to achieve a century, and in 2022, ever since he renounced the Indian leadership in all three formats of the game, he has also looked for vulnerable runs consistently. Team India is concerned since the venerable hitter has experienced a decline in his performance.

‘The luxury of taking a rest isn’t available to every player’: RP Singh

Former Indian fast bowler RP Singh questioned the decision and claimed that there was no such thing as taking a rest when one was out of form back when he was a player.
“A player will not request a break if they are going through a hard stretch. Playing more games will help him get back into shape but taking a break won’t. When you continue playing matches, the graph will only begin to rise once it has fallen” RP Singh said.

“There are those players who do not have the luxury of having a rest. There was no such thing as rest when Pragyan Ojha and I were on the Indian squad. Nobody asked us if we wanted to rest; you were either chosen or rejected “RP Singh told Cricbuzz.

When the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian team for the upcoming five-match T20I series via a tweet on Thursday (July 14), the decision to rest Virat received mixed reactions from all quarters.
