India and West Indies take on each other in a T20I series after the end of the ODI series. The first T20I will be played in Tarouba, Trinidad on July 29. The Men in Blue are topping the ICC T20I rankings while the Windies are placed seventh.
West Indies have now lost back-to-back ODI series against Bangladesh and India. They have also lost nine ODIs on the trot in between June-July 2022. Skipper Nicholas Pooran once again lamented their disappointing batting performance in the series against India. They next play an ODI series against New Zealand.
“As a batting group, it was going to be a challenge with DLS coming into play. We did get some partnerships, but not as many as we wanted, which cost us the game. There are a few inexperienced players, still figuring out how to play ODI cricket,” said Pooran.
India, on the other hand, had a really good ODI series with different players performing. Shubman Gill won the Man of the Series award for his consistent run of scores. For the T20Is, Rohit Sharma returns to lead the side. KL Rahul will miss the series as per reports after being affected by the covid virus. The rest of the squad has T20I specialists and players in form.
