Saba Karim believes Shikhar Dhawan is doubtful to be selected for India’s T20I team based on his ODI showings because he is not in the selectors’ plans for the shortest format.
In the opening ODI of the current three-match series against the West Indies, Dhawan struck a game-defining 97. The Indian team for the T20I series against the same opponent, which will be played following the ODI leg of the tour, does not, however, include the stand-in ODI skipper.

Karim was questioned if Dhawan might pressure the selectors to choose him for India’s T20I team during a conversation on India News. He gives a significant response.
“No, in my view. The T20 format and its needs are distinct from traditional cricket. Since there are so many excellent players available right now, I do not believe the selectors are considering Shikhar Dhawan.”

However, the former Indian selector stated that the opening batsman is a crucial part of the Men in Blue’s ODI team, going on to explain:
“Shikhar Dhawan is a vital force as an opening hitter, and I believe his position in ODI cricket has been established. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma make an excellent team.”
Saba Karim on Shikhar Dhawan’s impact in ODI cricket:
In the game’s 50-over format, Saba Karim emphasized the value of a consistent hitter like Dhawan. He noticed:
“In ODI cricket, he (Dhawan) has been performing consistently like way. His batting is consistent, and in ODI cricket, you need a batsman you can count on in addition to strike rate and average.”

“Shikhar is a player whose role has been crucial over the past two or three years, whether it has been for Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli. Shikhar and Rohit is a partnership has made it simpler for the batters after them to set or chase targets” Saba Karim said.
The two teams will square off again on Sunday (July 24) at Queen’s Park Oval.
