The cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has said that the attacking brand of cricket in T20Is has become the identity of the India National Cricket Team.

Team India have adopted a fresh all-out attacking approach with the bat in T20Is. The new attacking approach has benefitted Team India a lot and they have posted a score of 190+ 7 times on the board in T20Is in 2022.

Speaking in a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that Indian batters start hitting from the very first ball and they don’t stop despite losing wickets. He said:

“Not even one player scored a fifty but despite that India scored 191 runs. The start was explosive and this has become the identity of the new India, that they will start hitting right from the start, wickets keep falling but they won’t stop, they won’t get scared, they won’t look back.”

He added that India posted a good total on the board and lauded Rohit Sharma for playing an explosive knock. Chopra said:

“Eventually they reach a good score and are able to defend that. Rohit Sharma was the aggressor, he kept on hitting fours and sixes, and got out after scoring 33 runs off 16 balls. He had already hit a six off Akeal Hosein and lost his wicket trying to hit another one.”

India National Cricket Team lost wickets at regular intervals in the 4th T20I against West Indies National Cricket Team, but they continued their aggressive approach. Former India opener Aakash Chopra was highly impressed with this approach of Team India. Chopra also lauded Axar Patel for his 8-ball 20 runs contribution with the bat. He stated:

“Deepak Hooda came in at No. 3 this time, who when he played last time was batting down the order. He also scored 21 runs, although he was close to run-a-ball. Suryakumar Yadav – 24 runs off 14 balls. Wickets did fall in between but they didn’t take the name of stopping.

“Rishabh Pant’s 44 came off just 31 balls. Well done Rishabh Pant. Sanju Samson played well in my opinion. Axar Patel – 20 runs off eight balls – I think that was a huge contribution.”
