Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt is astonished by India’s choice to rest Virat Kohli for the upcoming white-ball series against hosts West Indies.
Team India will lengthen their away trip for a twin white-ball series with hosts West Indies after playing five T20Is and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) with England.

The Indian team’s reserve lineup for the series against the West Indies was unveiled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday.
The India T20I captain, Rohit Sharma, will not be playing on the West Indies tour because he is guiding the white-ball squad. In addition, the visitors’ white-ball team for the three-match ODI series did not include batting legend and former Indian captain Kohli.

Former Pakistan captain Butt noted that Kohli has been given regular rests by the Indian think tank in a video posted to his YouTube channel about the BCCI’s most recent team announcement.
‘Virat Kohli going through a lean patch’: Salman Butt
The former Pakistani opener Salman Butt emphasized Kohli’s acceptance of a difficult period in international cricket. “Already through a difficult time, Virat Kohli. In all three forms, Kohli was also removed from the captaincy. Why he was sacked of the Test captaincy is beyond understanding.”

“After taking a break for a series, he will return for another. Instead, a player should take a significant period off before returning to the lineup for every game ” Salman Butt explained.
Kohli, who is regarded as one of the best batters in all forms, is also rested for the first game of the series between India and England. The second Twenty20 International against England is set to see the former Indian captain return to the white-ball squad.
