India and West Indies will clash against each other in the second One-Day International match on Sunday (July 24). The WI vs IND 2nd ODI is scheduled to be played at Queen Park Oval Stadium in Trinidad.

India will be led by opener Shikhar Dhawan as the squad has notable absentees in senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant. On the other hand, West Indies are playing under Nicholas Pooran’s captaincy.

India eked out West Indies by three runs in a last-ball thriller in the first ODI match. India’s top order comprising Shikhar Dhawan (97), Shubman Gill (64) and Shreyas Iyer (54) set the tone for a big total of 308/7.

Half-centuries by Kyle Mayers (75) and Brandon King (54) didn’t do enough for the hosts before lower middle order batters Akeal Hosein (32*) and Romario Shepherd (39*) led a fashionable fightback but fell three runs short of the finishing line.

The early morning will be completely sunny but the dark clouds could come in the noon. The chances of rain showers during the day are 15 % and 6% at night. The humidity will be around 62% during the daytime.

The pitch report at Queen’s Park Oval suggests that it is a batting-friendly surface and it was evident after both teams managed to breach the 300-run mark in the first ODI. There is an even bounce on the track and the outfield is fast, which allows the batter’s timing for better boundary range. 

The average first innings total at Queen’s Park Oval is 218, while 179 is the average for the second innings at the same venue. India recorded the highest total of 413 on this track against Bermuda in 2007. Canada holds the unwanted record of the lowest score (75) against Zimbabwe in 2006.
