India vs West Indies, WI Playing XI vs IND (Predicted), 1st T20I, India Tour Of West Indies 2022. India vs West Indies T20I series will commence on 29th July 2022 with the first T20I match. The match will be played at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad, and will get started at 08:00 PM as per Indian Standard Time, the toss of the match will be at 07:30 PM.

The two teams last played a T20I and ODI series earlier in February this year. India managed to defeat West Indies in all the three ODIs and T20Is, winning both the series 3-0.

Team India seems to be on a golden run against the West Indies as they completed a trio of whitewash in their last three limited overs series. The recent ODI series vs West Indies saw Team India beat West Indies 3-0. The best thing was that the visitors were able to achieve this feat even with a second-string side led by Shikhar Dhawan.

Now, the upcoming T20I series brings a fresh challenge to the Indian team. Unlike the recent encounters for the visitors, this series will have 5 matches instead of the normal 3 matches. While 3 matches will be played in the West Indies, the last two matches shall be played in the US to boost the game in the country.

The Cricket West Indies (CWI) has recently announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against the India National Cricket Team. Star left-handed batter Shimron Hetmyer has received a recall for the upcoming T20I games against India and New Zealand while pacer Sheldon Cottrell and all-rounder Fabian Allen are unavailable for selection.

Kyle Mayers might be one of the openers for the team in the 1st T20I. The left-handed batsman scored 114 runs in 3 games in the recent ODI series. Kyle Mayers scored 72 runs in 2 games in the previous T20I series against Bangladesh. He has amassed 214 runs in 10 T20Is averaging 26.75.

Brandon King

Bradon King might be the opener for West Indies in WI vs IND 1st T20I. The right-handed batsman scored 96 runs in 3 games in the recent ODI series. In West Indies’ previous T20I series against Bangladesh, Brandon King mustered 64 runs in 2 games at an average of 32.0. He has amassed 476 runs in 24 T20Is averaging 22.67.

Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran is the skipper of West Indies in WI vs IND T20I series and will lead the team in the 1st T20I as well. The left-handed batsman will also be the wicketkeeper of the team. Nicholas Pooran scored 141 runs in 3 ODI games recently. In the previous T20I series against Bangladesh, Nicholas Pooran mustered 108 runs in 2 innings. He has played 62 T20Is amassing 1302 runs and averaging 29.59.

Shimron Hetmyer

Batter Shimron Hetmyer has returned to West Indies’ T20I squad for the upcoming five-match series against India and the following three-match series against New Zealand after clearing a fitness test.

Shimron Hetmyer had been omitted from West Indies’ recent squads on fitness grounds and was with the ODI group earlier this month in Port-of-Spain to work with the trainers and the support staff. He last represented West Indies in November 2021, during the T20I World Cup in the UAE. He has scored 666 runs in 42 T20Is averaging 21.48 with 3 fifties. He has also played 16 Tests and 47 ODIs.’

At IPL 2022, he excelled in the role of a finisher for the Rajasthan Royals, scoring 314 in 15 innings at a strike rate of 153.92. But in the two months since then, he hasn’t played any cricket.

Rovman Powell

Rovman Powell, the vice captain, might be a middle-order batter for West Indies in the 1st T20I match. Rovman Powell totally failed in the recent ODI series getting out for low scores in all three games.

The right-handed batsman gave a good performance in the previous T20I series against Bangladesh. He scored 66 runs in 2 innings with a top knock of unbeaten 61 runs in one game. In 42 T20Is, he has amassed 685 runs averaging a modest 26.35. He has 4 T20I fifties and 1 T20I ton.

Jason Holder

Jason Holder, who was out of the first two ODIs due to Covid-19, proved his fitness during the third match and has also returned to the main T20I squad. He has played 37 T20Is besides 56 Tests and 128 ODIs and has managed 264 T20I runs averaging 16.5 and 39 T20I scalps averaging 25.85.

He was wicketless (0/43 in 6 overs) and was unbeaten on 9 off 12 balls in the 3rd ODI which India won by 119 runs according to the Duckworth Lewis method.

Odean Smith

Odean Smith has played only 5 ODIs and 13 T20Is and has scored 144 and 66 runs respectively in the limited overs formats respectively. He has also picked 6 ODI and 10 T20I scalps. Romario Shepherd is another contender for the all-rounder’s spot having played 18 ODIs and 20 T20Is. In T20Is, he averages 37.25 with the bat and 28.55 with the ball.

Obed McCoy

Obed McCoy has played 2 ODIs where he picked 4 scalps averaging 27.25 and 16 T20Is where he picked 22 scalps averaging 18.27. Dominic Drakes’s left arm medium pacer is another option. Dominic Drakes has picked 3 scalps in 6 T20Is.

Akeal Hosein

Akeal Hosein might be a spinner for the team in the 1st T20I match. The left-arm spinner picked 3 wickets in 3 matches in the recent ODI series. In the previous T20I series against Bangladesh, Akeal Hosein picked 2 wickets in 2 games. He has picked 17 scalps in 23 T20Is averaging 29.59.

Hayden Walsh

Hayden Walsh might be another spinner for West Indies in the 1st T20I. In the recent ODI series, Hayden Walsh picked 2 wickets in 2 games. The left-arm spinner was also part of the previous T20I series against Bangladesh. He scalped 4 wickets in 3 games against Bangladesh. He has played 28 T20Is where he picked 25 scalps averaging 23.68.

Alzarri Joseph

Alzarri Joseph might be another pacer for the team in the 1st T20I. The right-arm pacer picked 4 wickets in 2 ODI games in the recent series. He was not part of the previous T20I series against Bangladesh.

Alzarri Joseph is in a good form and a crucial pacer for West Indies in the series. He is yet to play a T20I but has picked 82 scalps in 51 ODIs averaging 27.61 and 62 scalps in 22 Tests averaging 34.94.
