In the second One-Day International against the West Indies on Sunday in Trinidad, young Team India opener Shubman Gill got dismissed in an odd way. In the 16th over of the innings, he made an effort to scoop pacer Kyle Mayers. The hit, however, unfortunately, went awry and ended up being a simple catch for the bowler.
After the visitors started pursuing 312 they worked their way up to 43 with Gill. He hit five fours and appeared to have total control of his knock. But Mayers’ brazen effort at a ramp shot resulted in an odd dismissal.

The Windies pacer’s ball wasn’t available for the stroke. However, the Punjab batter planned his scoop and was far too early in his shot as a consequence.
Finally, the bowler joyfully took the catch as the ball struck the bottom of the bat and lobbed back at him. The Indian opener, who was well aware that he had handed his wicket away, strolled back to the pavilion with a guilty grin on his face.

The 22-year-old gave his wicket to the opposition twice in as many games after making a start and seemed to be in excellent form.
In the first one-day match, he made 64 off 53. He was, however, run out after being struck directly while he was asleep at the non- striker’s end. For the first part of the run, Gill plodded, and his sluggish demeanor cost him his wicket.

Shreyas Iyer (63) and Sanju Samson (54) both scored impressive half-centuries in India’s successful chase of 312 runs, but it was Axar Patel’s unbeaten 35-ball 64 that finally determined the outcome as India sprinted home with two balls to spare. For the hosts, Alzarri Joseph (2/46) and Kyle Mayers (2/48) each claimed two wickets.
