Shubman Gill’s stunning catch in the penultimate over of a tense chase and a classy maiden ODI century gave India a thrilling 13-run win to complete a 3-0 whitewash after Sikandar Raza’s fighting century had brought the hosts back from the dead. Raza’s knock took Zimbabwe from 169 for 7 in a chase of 290 to a point where they needed 15 to win from nine balls.

Gill, who stole the show in the first innings, came in between the dismissals of KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan, who put on 63 for the first wicket after the visitors decided to bat.

The 22-year-old felt no pressure and played his shots confidently as he helped India make good progress. While Ishan Kishan had a cautious start, Gill kept the boundaries coming, unleashing a repertoire of shots around the park that included exquisite drives, powerful sweeps, cuts, a deft scoop, and a glance.

Gill rocketed to three figures after reaching 50 off 51 deliveries with his 100 off 81 deliveries. Kishan was on 9 off 21 at one point before he, too, began hitting the fence, scoring his second ODI fifty off 61 balls.
