IND vs ZIM: Zimbabwe Do Have Some Quality Bowlers, They Came Strong At Us – KL Rahul After 5-Wicket Win In 2nd ODI

KL Rahul-led India National Cricket Team won by 5 wickets in the second ODI match of the three-match ODI series against the Regis Chakabva-led Zimbabwe National Cricket Team at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday, August 20.

Just like the first game, Team India won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. Indian bowlers once again performed exceptionally well and they managed to reduce Zimbabwe to 31/4. The next 6 wickets fell in no time and Zimbabwe were rolled over for 161. Sean Williams (42) and Ryan Burl (39*) were the top performers for Zimbabwe with the bat and Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged a three-wicket haul.

Chasing the target, India lost their first wicket in the second over itself as captain Rahul was dismissed by Victor Nyauchi for 1. Veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan played quickfire 33 runs knock before getting out in the 7th over. Shubman Gill also scored 33 runs and Ishan Kishan was able to contribute only 6 runs.

In the end, Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel provided the finishing touches to help India win the match by 5 wickets and clinch the series 2-0. Notably, Samson finished off the match in style with a brilliant six to Innocent Kaia and he was able to score 43 runs off 39 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Good for some of the guys to get time in the middle – KL Rahul

During the post-match presentation ceremony, KL Rahul said that it’s good that some of the Indian batters got the opportunity to spend time out in the middle. He also talked about changing his batting position and opening along with Shikhar Dhawan in the second ODI. He said:

“(On whether he was nervous during the chase) Not really, we do bat deep. Good for some of the guys to get time in the middle. I do need some time in the middle, obviously playing this series was important for me to take some runs and confidence away, unfortunately, didn’t work out today.”

KL Rahul further said that the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team have got some quality bowlers in the team and they gave a good challenge to the batters. He elaborated:

“They do have some quality bowlers, I saw that in the previous series against Bangladesh as well. The bowlers came strong at us, a good challenge for us.

“We are here to play good cricket and win, every opportunity is an honour so we want to go out there next time also to enjoy ourselves and put a good performance. Wherever we travel, we get good support from Indian fans, very thankful to their support.”
