Chennai Super Kings were dealt with a huge blow ahead of IPL 2022 as their premier pacer Deepak Chahar is all set to miss the majority of the season with an injury. Chahar suffered a quadriceps tear in the third T20I against West Indies last month.

As per reports in ESPN Cricinfo, Deepak Chahar might take a few weeks to recover and with IPL 2022 starting from March 26 is set to miss the majority of the season. CSK roped him in for 14 crores in the mega auction. Chahar was in form both with ball and bat for the last few months. His scores of 69* (against Sri Lanka), 54 (against South Africa) and 38 (against West Indies) are examples of his capability with the bat.

The veteran Indian pacer went unsold in the mega auction. None of the ten franchises was interested in picking Ishant. He is ageing 33 and is not a part of the Indian Test squad for the Sri Lanka series at home. Having played a lot under MS Dhoni, Ishant might be a good replacement for CSK. So far, in his IPL career, the tall and lanky pacer has picked up 72 wickets from 93 games.
