Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL 2022, Match 22 is to be played on 12th April 2022, 19:30 IST at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. SRH vs GT Dream11 Prediction

Chennai Super Kings will be eager to script a turnaround for a familiar foe. Chennai Super Kings have lost all of their first 4 matches in a row in IPL 2022, a first since 2010, and they are winless in IPL 15.

So the Chennai Super Kings outfit led by new skipper Ravindra Jadeja will be keen to get on to the table with 2 points. At the other end, RCB under Faf du Plessis is one of the teams that have gone off the block in some pace, by having valuable 6 points. The Bangalore side will be looking to bag those two points by winning against out of form Chennai and go to 8 points to be in a more comfortable position among the top rung teams.

During the doubleheader on Saturday, two heavyweights, the Chennai Super Kings, and the Mumbai Indians, each suffered their fourth consecutive defeat. Bangalore and Chennai have faced each other in 28 matches in IPL. Out of these 28 games, Bangalore has won 9 whereas Chennai has come out victorious on 18 occasions. 1 match ended without a result.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Harshal Patel left the team’s bio bubble in Pune due to the sudden demise of his sister. The Haryana pacer will some spend time with his family in these tragic circumstances and will reportedly link up with the RCB contingent in a day or two.

Under a new captain Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai Super Kings have experienced the worst start to a season in their history. It is still early days in the tournament, but fans did not expect such a lackluster performance from the most consistent franchise in the IPL.

One of the major reasons for Chennai Super Kings’ triumph last season was the incredible success of the opening pair of Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Both openers scored over 600 runs. With no Faf du Plessis in the mix this year, the onus was on Ruturaj Gaikwad to continue his prolific form. He was, after all, the Orange Cap holder last season. So far this season, he had been completely out of sorts, scoring just 18 runs in the first four matches.

Deepak Chahar

Chennai Super Kings had huge hopes from their main pacer, Deepak Chahar, who was bought for a whopping ₹14 crore in the IPL auction. But his injury right before the season’s start was a massive blow to the team management. Tushar Deshpande and Mukesh Choudhary have looked ordinary so far. With no pace to trouble the opposition, they have never looked threatening during any phase of the game.

Ravindra Jadeja took over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings just before the season started after MS Dhoni decided to step down. However, Ravindra Jadeja has looked mediocre as a captain, often getting the bowling changes wrong. Chennai Super Kings might give youngster Rajvardhan Hangargekar a rope in place of Mukesh Choudhary. Besides his contribution with the ball, Rajvardhan Hangargekar is also handy with the bat in the lower order.

Robin Uthappa has played for various franchises since IPL 2008. Last season, the right-handed batsman scored 115 runs in 4 games for the Chennai Super Kings team with 1 fifty.

He scored 28 against KKR before being stumped by Sheldon Jackson off Varun  Chakravarthy in the first match but scored 50 off 27 balls in the next match against Lucknow, but it went in vain despite Chennai Super Kings scoring 210/7. Against Punjab, he scored only 13. He has scored 106 runs so far in 4 games.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad had a stellar season last year. He finished the tournament as the highest run-getter (Orange Cap winner). In 16 matches, he managed to score 635 runs at an average of 45.36 and a strike rate of close to 140.

He was dismissed without scoring against KKR in the opening fixture and was run-out for 1 in the next game against Lucknow Super Giants. He scored only 1 again in the next game against Punjab as, like IPL 2020 and IPL 2021, he registered low scores in the first 3 IPL games. He has scored only 18 runs so far with his highest being 16.

Moeen Ali, the CSK all-rounder, played in CSK’s second match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after finishing his three-day quarantine period. Moeen Ali has been one of the best performers for the yellow army in 15 matches, Moeen Ali picked 6 wickets and made 357 runs with the highest score of 58 at a strike rate of 137.30 and hit 19 sixes and 31 fours for the MS Dhoni-led team.

Moeen Ali scored a brisk 35 off 22 balls including 4 boundaries and 2 sixes but disappointed while bowling, conceding 14 runs off the only over he bowled against Lucknow. He failed to score against Punjab and was wicketless. He has scored 83 runs so far

Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu will be the middle-order batsman for the team in the opening game against KKR in IPL 2022. CSK bought the right-handed batsman during the auction.

Ambati Rayudu played for CSK in the last season too. He scored 257 runs in 13 innings with 2 fifties. Ambati Rayudu scored 27 off 20 balls before being bowled by Lucknow’s Ravi Bishnoi. He had scored 15 off 17 in the opening fixture of IPL 2022 against Kolkata Knight riders before being run out. He scored 13 against Punjab. He has scored 82 runs in 4 games.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja, an all-rounder, will lead the side as he has been handed over the captaincy for IPL 2022. Last season, Ravindra Jadeja was in fabulous form. He scored 227 runs in 12 innings and also picked 13 wickets. He will be a crucial player for the team.

Ravindra Jadeja had scored an unbeaten 26 off 28 balls against Kolkata and 17 off 9 balls against Lucknow. He had returned wicketless in both the outings. Although he picked a wicket against Punjab, he was dismissed without scoring. He scored 66 runs so far.

Shivam Dube

Shivam Dube scored just three off six balls and gave away 11 runs in the only over he bowled against KKR in CSK’s first game of IPL 2022. Against Lucknow, he fared better scoring a brisk 49 off 30 balls including 5 fours and 2 sixes. But he gave away 25 runs in the only over he bowled, and was wicketless. The 19th over which he bowled tilted the game in Lucknow’s favor.

Against Punjab, he top-scored with a cameo of 57 of 30 balls but didn’t bowl. It’s to be seen whether he bowls in the next match. He is CSK’s leading run-scorers with 112 runs.

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni, who relinquished captaincy before his team’s opening fixture, played a phenomenal knock of unbeaten 50 from 38 balls that powered Chennai Super Kings to a decent score of 131 in the first innings against KKR in the ongoing IPL 2022, and he was involved in a 70-run stand with skipper Ravindra Jadeja.

MS Dhoni has struggled with the bat, scoring a combined total of 314 runs from 30 matches in the last two editions-IPL 2020 and IPL 2021. If his tally of 200 runs in IPL 2020 was disappointing, the following year was even worse as MS Dhoni aggregated only 114 runs.

He did well yet again against Lucknow, reversing his age as he scored another unbeaten knock of 16 off 6 balls but both innings went in vain. Against Punjab, he scored 23. He has scored 92 runs at the best average of 46 so far

Rajvardhan Hangargekar

Despite being involved in an age-fraud case, Rajvardhan Hangargekar was allowed to play in the IPL 2022 and picked up by Chennai Super Kings in the mega auction.  The 19-year-old Rajvardhan Hangargekar had come into the IPL 2022 mega auction with a base price of INR 30 lakh.

He finished with a tally of 5 wickets and 278 runs in the 2022 U19 World Cup, which India won.  Rajvardhan Hangargekar’s quick seam-bowling prowess and lower-order hitting skill in the U-19 World Cup 2022 earned him an INR 1.5 crore deal at the mega auction last month in Bengaluru. He is yet to play in IPL.

Mahesh Theekshana

Mahesh Theekshana is the latest mystery spinner on the block. He has been effective in powerplays picking up 16 wickets in 25 T20 innings at an outstanding economy of 6.52. He went wicketless in his debut game and Chennai Super Kings may play Dwayne Bravo in his place.

Chris Jordan

Chris Jordan was admitted to a Mumbai hospital for six days due to a tonsil infection but returned for the game against Punjab Kings where he registered figures of 2/23 and had the best figures among CSK bowlers. He has picked 2 scalps but has been a bit expensive. He may be replaced by CSK’s leading wicket-taker this season- Dwayne Bravo.

Dwaine Pretorious

Dwaine Pretorious, the multi-dimensional cricketer has played 22 T20Is for South Africa and has scored 170 runs at a strike rate of 161.9. He has also picked 23 wickets at an average of 19.48. Dwaine Pretorius has maintained an economy rate of 7.77, which is outstanding. He has been an impactful performer for the Proteas but is playing the IPL 2022 for the first time.

He was dismissed 1st ball but picked 2 scalps conceding 31 runs in 4 overs and was the most economical pacer in Chennai Super Kings’ otherwise lackluster bowling performance against Lucknow. Against Punjab, he had figures of 2/30. He has picked up 4 wickets so far averaging 15.25 and is 2nd best wicket-taker for CSK after Dwayne Bravo.
