Complete List Of Players Retained By Delhi Capitals (DC) In IPL 2022

IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) have retained skipper Rishabh Pant along with Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Nortje for IPL 2022.

The IPL 2022 retention list is out with most of the teams having retained four players, which was the maximum limit set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The IPL 2022 will see the addition of two new franchises (from Ahmedabad and Lucknow). The majority of players will go under the hammer which brings another grand auction in the cash-rich league, just like the one in IPL 2011.

Delhi Capitals finished on the top of the points table in IPL 2021 but couldn’t win the knockout fixtures against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Rishabh Pant retained, Shreyas Iyer released to IPL 2022 auction by DC

Rishabh Pant replaced Shreyas Iyer as the captain of the team as the latter was injured in the first leg of the tournament. Pant is likely to lead the franchise as Iyer hasn’t been retained.

With 2498 runs from 84 IPL games, Pant is the highest run-scorer of Delhi Capitals, Iyer is third on the list with 2382 runs.

Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw, who was bought by the franchise in 2018, scored 479 from 15 matches in the last edition of IPL. Shaw’s opening partner Shikhar Dhawan will go in the mega auction along with Iyer.

South African pace sensation Anrich Nortje has been tremendous with the bowl not just in the early part of the innings but also the death overs.

Nortje accounted for 12 wickets from eight games and had almost given a tough time for KKR to breath in the second qualifier game.

All-rounder Axar Patel was the most surprising choice for the Capitals as he was picked ahead of veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

There will be a massive reshuffle of players as teams are allowed to retain not more than four players subject to the salary price tagged by BCCI.

According to BCCI’s retention policy, the salary of each player in case a team retains four players – Rs 16 crore for Player 1, Rs 12 crore for Player 2, Rs 8 crore for Player 3 and Rs 6 crore for Player 4.

This means a total of Rs 42 crore will be deducted from the team’s purse before they enter the mega auction of IPL 2022.
