CSK vs GT: Revealed - Why Ambati Rayudu & Dwayne Bravo Are Not Playing Today's Match vs Gujarat Titans

Senior Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo were not part of the team’s playing XI in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match against Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, May 15.

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to bat first in the match and they made 4 huge changes to the playing XI as Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo and Maheesh Theekshana replaced N Jagadeesan, Prashant Solanki, Mitchell Santner and Matheesha Pathirana in the playing XI.

Notably, Rayudu and Bravo have been dropped as part of an experiment as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after the defeat in their last game against Mumbai Indians (MI) have officially got knocked out of the Indian Premier League 2022 playoffs race.

So, with only 2 games remaining in the IPL 2022, the MS Dhoni-led side decided to bring in some fresh talents like young leg-spinner Prashant Solanki and Sri Lanka U-19 pacer Matheesha Pathirana.

At the toss, CSK skipper Dhoni lauded mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana and opener Devon Conway and informed about the 4 big changes to the playing XI. He asserted:

“We will bat first. It’s very hot. The wickets have been used quite a bit so it will slow down. Hope it stays the same throughout or slows down in the second half of the game. Theekshana the way he has come in and contributed. Conway at the top order have been positives. We have a lot of changes. Robbie, Rayudu, Bravo, Theekshana are missing. Jaggi, Solanki, Santner, Matheesha are playing.”

Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans (GT), on the other hand, made no changes to the line-up and they fielded the same playing XI from the previous game.
