Mumbai Indians (MI) bowling all-rounder Daniel Sams cleaned up star Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opening batsman Devon Conway in the 59th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, May 12.

Chennai Super Kings lost the in-form opener, Conway, on the second ball of the first over of the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) for a golden duck.

Sams, who opened the attack for Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings’ opening duo, bowled a length delivery to Devon Conway that shaped in and the CSK opener played a flick but he completely missed it and the ball hit the pads.

Although it looked like the delivery would go down the leg and miss the stumps, still, the on-field umpire raised the finger and Conway was adjusted out LBW.

Conway’s opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad had a little chat with the umpires but Conway was forced to walk back to the dugout. Also, in the same over Moeen Ali was cleaned up for a duck.

On normal days any batter would have reviewed that delivery bowled by Daniel Sams but the Chennai Super Kings opener was not able to use the DRS because it was not available.

The real reason behind its unavailability is the power cut at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. However, the DRS is expected to be available once everything goes back to normal.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to field first and they made two changes to the playing XI as Tristan Stubbs replaced Kieron Pollard and Hrithik Shokeen replaced Murugan Ashwin. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings made no changes to the playing XI.
