Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant justified his decision of not bowling Kuldeep Yadav his full quota of overs against Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday night.
The left-arm wrist spinner claimed 4/14 to limit KKR’s innings at 146/9. Nitish Rana (57) and Shreyas Iyer (42) played some moderate knocks to push a respectable score on the board.

Kuldeep Yadav 4/14 cruised Delhi Capitals to fourth win in IPL 2022
Kuldeep got the wickets of Baba Indrajith and Sunil Narine on successive deliveries in the eighth over. As Shreyas and Rana’s alliance seemed promising to rebuild the KKR innings, Kuldeep chipped in to break the 48-run stand with the KKR skipper’s pricely wicket.
Kuldeep dismissed Andre Russell as the latter charged down the track to play a big shot but missed it and Pant did the rest of the work to send the West Indies all-rounder packing.
I thought we would give Kuldeep Yadav his final over: Rishabh Pant
Kuldeep bowled just three overs in the match despite having the opportunity to bag a maiden five-wicket haul. Pant explained that he had to bring in the pace bowlers during the slog overs after the ball got wet.
“I thought we would give him (Kuldeep) his final over from the other end but then the ball kept getting wet and I also wanted to change the pace, that’s why I brought the fast bowlers in but it didn’t work,” Pant said in the post-match presentation.

With the excellent spell against KKR, Kuldeep accumulated 17 wickets in eight games this season, one wicket shy of Indian spin twin Yuzvendra Chahal in the race for IPL 2022 Purple cap.
Delhi Capitals opener David Warner scored a brisk 26-ball 42, including eight boundaries before Rovman Powell blitzed 33 runs in 16 balls as Capitals chased the target with one over to spare.
Delhi Capitals are slotted in sixth position with eight points in the charts, they will play against Lucknow Super Giants on May 1 at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
