DC vs RR: Delhi Capitals’ Predicted Playing XI Against Rajasthan Royals.

Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals, DC Playing 11 vs RR (Predicted), IPL 2022, Match 34, DC vs RR. Delhi Capitals will take on Rajasthan Royals in match 34 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Friday (April 22) at Wankhede Stadium. The Delhi Capitals’ camp has been hit by COVID-19 as Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert have both tested positive for the virus. Two other support staff members have also tested positive.

The game has been, therefore, shifted to Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai from MCA Stadium, Pune to avoid travel of the Delhi squad. Despite being hit by COVID-19, the Rishabh Pant-led side registered an emphatic 9-wicket win over Punjab Kings and their morale will be high.

Delhi Capitals (DC) were back to winning ways in the IPL 2022 after a convincing victory against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 9 wickets on Wednesday at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.  Explosive knocks from openers David Warner and Prithvi Shaw secured a comfortable victory for the team with over 9 overs to spare after a complete effort from the DC bowlers restricted PBKS to 115. Among the DC bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Khaleel Ahmed, and Lalit Yadav scalped two wickets each.

With four wins and two defeats, Rajasthan Royals are sitting at the third spot with a net run rate of (+0.380), while Delhi Capitals are sitting at sixth position with three wins in six games. Delhi’s net run rate is +0.942, which is the best amongst all 10 teams.

Delhi Capitals have won the last six out of seven games against Rajasthan Royals, and this would add to their confidence. For Delhi Capitals, Aussie opener David Warner is striking the ball well and he would like to provide an electrifying start with Prithvi Shaw who played a great cameo in the last game against Punjab. Rishabh Pant, Sarfaraz Khan, and Rovman Powell make it a steady middle order and they will need to set the stage for the finishers to do well.

In Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, and Shardul Thakur the side enjoys good depth in the batting department. Shardul Thakur struggled in the last game and the side should hand the new ball to Mustafizur Rahman and Khaleel Ahmed who have done well. Spinner Axar Patel has been the pick of the bowlers for the side and along with Kuldeep Yadav form a very strong pair. The side would like to see Shardul Thakur bowl well in the death overs as the Royals have good hitters of the ball.

Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw will open for the Delhi Capitals team in the next match of IPL 2022. The right-handed batsman will aim to come up with a good knock in the next game.

He has amassed 217 runs in 6 IPL 2022 games averaging 36.17 at an impressive strike rate of 170.86. He is Delhi Capitals’ leading run-getter so far this season and has already hit 2 fifties with a best of 61.

David Warner

David Warner commenced his IPL journey at the Delhi franchise in 2009 and after 13 years, with a bag full of experience, loads of runs under his belt, and having won the IPL title with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he returns to represent the team in 2022.

David Warner, who is the fourth-highest run-getter in the history of the IPL is one of the most destructive openers across formats and he will be keen to make a mark right from the word go for DC. David Warner is already Delhi Capitals’ 2nd highest run-getter as he had already scored 191 runs in only 4 games averaging 63.67 at an impressive strike rate of 152.8.

Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan is looking to revive his T20 records. He was picked up by PBKS for INR 25 lakhs at the player auctions prior to IPL 2019 and was retained ahead of the 2020 season. However, he has now moved to the Delhi Capitals and will be looking to show his batting prowess. He has scored 48 runs in 2 innings with a best of 36* in IPL 2022.

His last few Ranji Trophy innings include a 177, a 226 not-out, and an unbeaten 301. In the Ranji Trophy season 2019-20 season, he scored 928 runs in 6 matches with an average of 154.67. And as Ranji Trophy made a comeback after a season, Sarfaraz Khan again smashed 275 against Saurashtra in the very first innings of the season.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant is the skipper of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022 and will obviously lead the team in the next match as well.  After failing to score well in the opening game, the left-handed batsman slammed 43 runs and unbeaten 39 runs in the two matches against Gujarat and Lucknow respectively. He has scored 144 runs in 6 IPL 2022 games averaging 36 and is the franchise’s 3rd highest run-getter.

Lalit Yadav

Lalit Yadav will be another middle-order batsman for the team in the next game. The right-handed batsman has so far impressed with his batting show. He scored an unbeaten 48 in the opening game. In 6 matches so far in IPL 2022, he has piled up 75 runs averaging 25, and picked 4 scalps averaging 13.75. He is Delhi’s 5th highest run-getter this season so far.

Rovman Powell

Rovman Powell might be another middle-order batsman for the team in the next match of IPL 2022. In the 4 matches so far, the West Indies player has not managed to come up with a good knock. He has scored only 31 runs in 6 IPL 2022 matches averaging a paltry 7.75. However, the right-handed batter is a hard-hitter and the team needs him in the lower middle order. With the absence of Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert due to Covid-19, he will get to play some more matches despite poor form.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel

Axar Patel will certainly be the spin all-rounder that the team can go in with in the next match of IPL 2022. The left-handed batsman played a match-winning knock of 38 runs in the opening game. So far in IPL 2022, Axar Patel has scored 78 runs in 4 innings and has picked 3 scalps with a best of 10/2 coming in the previous game against Punjab. He is 4th highest run-getter for DC this season so far.

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur will be one of the pacers on the team in the next game. The right-arm pacer has not tasted much success in the tournament so far. Shardul Thakur will look to come up with a better bowling show in the next game. He played a crucial knock of 11-ball-22 in the opening match. He has amassed 70 runs averaging 23.33 at a staggering strike rate of 194.44 in IPL 2022 with the bat.

He has picked up 4 scalps in 6 IPL 2022 games averaging 48.75 conceding runs at an economy rate of 9.59 which is surprising given Shardul Thakur’s credentials. He will certainly look to make amends to his bowling statistics against Rajasthan.

Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed, who has 10 scalps in 5 IPL 2022 games averaging 14.3 will retain his place in the playing XI against Rajasthan. Left-arm medium-pacer Khaleel Ahmed has been a proven performer. He was initially inducted into the Delhi Capitals side for the 2016 IPL.

He was subsequently bought by SRH and has been retained since. He had a successful season in 2019 picking up 19 wickets that included a 3-wicket haul and a unique celebration style that caught everyone’s attention. Three years later, he returns to the DC after being bought for INR 5.25 Crore.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav, the left-arm chinaman spinner of Delhi Capitals has scalped 13 wickets in 6 matches so far at an impressive average of 14.3. He also bowled a match-winning spell of 3 wickets in the opening game, winning the man of the match award for his 3/18 against Mumbai.

His best bowling figures in IPL 2022 so far came against his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders in a winning cause as he picked 4/35. He was awarded MOM in that match as well. He was the MOM in the last match against Punjab as well but the expert opinion was that Axar Patel should’ve been awarded. He is the 2nd highest wicket-taker so far after Rajasthan’s Yuzvendra Chahal.

Mustafizur Rahman

The left-arm pacer from Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman is playing his 5th IPL season and will be looking to add a few more wickets to his tally as the Delhi Capitals look to clinch the title. He has picked 4 scalps in 5 games this season averaging 36.5 and conceding runs at an economy rate of 7.3.
