Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals, RR Playing 11 vs DC (Predicted), IPL 2022, Match 34, DC vs RR. Delhi Capitals will take on Rajasthan Royals in match 34 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Friday (April 22) at Wankhede Stadium.
The Delhi Capitals’ camp has been hit by COVID-19 as Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert have both tested positive for the virus. Two other support staff members have also tested positive.
The game has been, therefore, shifted to Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai from MCA Stadium, Pune to avoid travel of the Delhi squad. Despite being hit by COVID-19, the Rishabh Pant-led side registered an emphatic 9-wicket win over Punjab Kings and their morale will be high.
With four wins and two defeats, Rajasthan Royals are sitting at the third spot with a net run rate of (+0.380). While Delhi Capitals are sitting at sixth position with three wins in six games. Delhi’s net run rate is +0.942, which is the best amongst all 10 teams.
In a thrilling match, Rajasthan Royals beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 runs in their last match at Brabourne Stadium. Jos Buttler laid the foundation of the win for the Royals with a sublime century to take his team to a mammoth 217/5 in 20 overs.
The wicketkeeper batter slammed 103 runs off 61 balls but it was Yuzvendra Chahal who claimed a hat-trick to turn the tide in Rajasthan’s favor when KKR was marching towards a sensational win. KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer scored a fabulous 85 runs but it wasn’t enough as Yuzvendra Chahal claimed five-wicket to derail KKR’s chase. Obed McCoy sealed the game for RR with two wickets in the final over.
It was a narrow escape for Sanju Samson’s side in their last game against the Kolkata Knight Riders. They put up 217 runs on the board and nearly threw it away to win by only 7 runs. Their bowlers have looked in poor form in the last two games and Sanju Samson would like to see a better show against the Delhi Capitals against whom his side hasn’t done well in the last four seasons.
Jos Buttler has been in incredible form. He would need support from another opener Devdutt Padikkal who has failed to convert his starts. Sanju Samson did well in the last game, and he will need to build partnerships with Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag in the game against Delhi. Down the order, Karun Nair and Ravichandran Ashwin aren’t the best hitters of the ball and the side would like to see them make contributions.
Bowling has been a problem for the side in the last two games and they would need a good start from pacers Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna. Ravichandran Ashwin hasn’t been at his best and the side would like to see him make use of his experience along with Yuzvendra Chahal who has had a good season. Obed McCoy needs to do well here and justify his selection.
In the last IPL 2022 game Karun Nair, Trent Boult, and Obed McCoy came in place of James Neesham, Kuldeep Sen, and Rassie van der Dussen. They may retain their places in the XI.

Shimron Hetmyer
Shimron Hetmyer fetched the big bucks in the IPL 2022 mega auction having been bought for a whopping INR 8.5 Crores by the Rajasthan Royals and his ability to finish games in the middle order is one of the reasons for his high price tag.
The 25-year-old scored 242 runs in 14 IPL 2021 games last year for Delhi Capitals at an average of 34 and it was the strike rate of 168 that created a lot of damage to the opponents.

He also adds up to the all-rounder option as he can rotate his arm with some leg-spin which is crucial to the balance of the side. He has scored only 48 runs in 6 IPL 2022 games averaging a mere 9.6 and has to do well in the next games to retain his place in playing 11. He has also picked 1 wicket bowling 3 overs and conceded 12 runs.
Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal was picked for Rs. 6.5 crores by Rajasthan Royals during the auction. The leg spinner was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore last season. He scalped 18 wickets in 15 games in IPL 2021. He has picked 17 scalps in only 6 games averaging only 10.35 at an excellent economy of only 7.33.
He picked 4/41 against Lucknow and was awarded Man of the Match. He is the current Orange Cap holder for being the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2022. He picked a hat-trick against KKR and was awarded MOM for picking 5 wickets as KKR was dismissed for 207, 11 runs adrift of the target.
Trent Boult
Trent Boult, the Kiwi pacer was bought in the IPL 2022 mega auction for INR 8 Crore from the marquee set after an intense bidding war against the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. The New Zealander was a crucial member of the successful campaigns for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2019 and 2020 seasons.

The 32-year-old has a lot of IPL experience under his belt now. He has picked 7 scalps averaging an impressive 23.42 at an economy rate of 8.2 in only 5 IPL 2022 games. He didn’t play a game for having a sprain and another New Zealand cricketer James Neesham replaced him.
