Virender Sehwag lavished praise on Rajasthan Royals batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and provided crucial guidance as he explained the player’s possibility of receiving his first India call-up.
The Rajasthan Royals advanced to the final of the 2022 Indian Premier League after defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the RR players who has performed admirably for the team in previous matches. Jaiswal was sidelined for the remainder of the season after just a slow start to the season before even being called back into the XI for the match against Punjab Kings. He scored a quick 68 in the match, and then added important scores of 19, 41, and 59 in the remaining league games, opening the batting alongside Jos Buttler.

Yashasvi seemed to have a short stay at the crease in Qualifier 2 against RCB (21 off 13 balls), but his innings create an atmosphere for RR’s run chase. The young left-hander scored 16 runs in his first over, exerting pressure off his partner Jos Buttler.
‘Yashasvi took the pressure off Jos Buttler completely’: Virender Sehwag
Former India opening batsman Virender Sehwag was amazed at Yashasvi but said the player needs to generate his starts into big knocks if he wants to appear for international selection.
“He (Jaiswal) relieved the pressure right away, hitting 16 runs in the first over.” He relieved Jos Buttler of all responsibility. So you have to commend Jaiswal. It was a brief inning, but it was fruitful. So it’s satisfactory that they will have a batter who is bold enough to be using powerplay to its full potential,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

“However, if he is to perform for India, he must score big runs.” He’ll have to demonstrate that he’s desperate for big wins. When he does that, he will undoubtedly be considered for an India call-up. “However, his 21 runs off 13 balls were helpful in the match against RR,” Virender Sehwag added.
The Sanju Samson-led team will face the Gujarat Titans for the title on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
