Rajasthan Royals (RR) have had a superb run in the IPL 2022 (Indian Premier League) and the two heroes who have inspired this run- one at the top with the bat, Jos Buttler, and one with the ball, Yuzvendra Chahal. And Chahal is on verge of creating an IPL record with the ball for a spinner, after having an amazing outing in IPL 2022 after he was bought by the RR franchise in the mega auction.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2022 on May 24, 2022, in Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The winner of this match will go straight into the finals of the tournament to be played on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, the loser of this match will get another chance to go into the finals, when they face the winner of the Eliminator match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 25 in Kolkata, in the second qualifier match.

Yuzvendra Chahal is One Wicket Away From Making Record For Most Wickets By A Spinner In An IPL Edition

Yuzvendra Chahal, with 26 wickets has equalled the tally of former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) leg-spinner Imran Tahir in an IPL season. Tahir won the Purple Cap in the 2019 edition playing for CSK and has been the highest tally of wickets for a spinner in one edition.

Chahal is just one wicket away and with Royals set to place at least a couple of more games in the tournament, the Haryana leggie will achieve history.

Aside from Tahir, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Sunil Narine (2012) and Mumbai Indians’ Harbhajan Singh (2013) registered the most wickets in an IPL season (24) each. RCB’s Wanindu Hasaranga has also registered 24 wickets in the season.

Not just that, Chahal also has the opportunity to become only the third spinner to win the Purple Cap after Tahir and Pragyan Ojha (2010).
