Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians, GT Playing 11 vs MI (Predicted), IPL 2022, Match 51, GT vs MI. Gujarat Titans will play against Mumbai Indians on 6th May 2022 at 7:30 pm at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, India in the 51st IPL 2022 match. Gujarat Titans came in as one of the new teams this season and have completely dominated the league phase and are currently at the top of the points table.

They are almost assured of the play-off berth while Mumbai Indians are out of the qualification race practically after losing their first 8 matches on a trot. They will look to finish the season on a high and play spoilsport in the other team’s chances.

Gujarat Titans’ batting line-up looks strong with keeper Wriddhiman Saha and Sai Sudarshan contributing with the fifties in the last 2 matches, respectively. Skipper Hardik Pandya has been their leading run-scorer with 307 runs while opener Shubman Gill is struggling to find form in the last 4-5 matches. David Miller (287 runs) and Rahul Tewatia (190 runs) have played brilliantly in the lower order helping them in the final overs alongside dashing Rashid Khan.

Pacer Mohammed Shami has been the power play enforcer with 15 wickets this season so far. Overseas pacers Lockie Ferguson (11 wickets) and Alzarri Joseph (5 wickets) are providing good support in the pace department but are leaking runs at over 8.5 RPO. Rashid Khan has been their lone spinner in the squad and is very effective in controlling the run rate in the middle overs.

Gujarat Titans have 16 points from 10 matches and their 5-match winning streak ended after their loss against PBKS. Mumbai Indians have just 2 points from 9 matches and their 8-match losing hiatus came to end against RR. GT won the 2 matches they played at Brabourne while MI lost both their encounters so far.

A choke by the bowlers, led by Punjab Kings pacer Kagiso Rabada’s four-for (4/33) and returns of 4-0-17-0 from Sandeep Sharma, restricted table-toppers Gujarat Titans to a below-par 143 and revived Punjab Kings’ campaign for the playoffs race.

Shikhar Dhawan(62*), Bhanuka Rajapaksa(40), and Liam Livingstone(30*) made short work of the chase, which they sealed with as many as four overs to spare, and lifted Kings from eighth to fifth on the table.

Gujarat Titans may field an unchanged XI in the match against Mumbai, but once they are officially qualified for playoffs, they may tinker with their combination as the likes of Sai Kishore, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Dominic Drakes, Jayant Yadav are warming the bench and are yet to play a single IPL 2022 match.

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill who has played 10 Tests and 3 ODI matches for India, will be eager to leave his mark in IPL 2022, as a good outing in the IPL can open doors for the Indian team as well. He was a regular starter for Kolkata Knight Riders since IPL 2018 and his role with Gujarat Titans will be to provide a good start to the team.

Shubman Gill remains one of the most promising openers in the league. He has scored 269 runs in 10 IPL 2022 games averaging 26.9 at an impressive strike rate of 137.94. However, he hasn’t fired in the last few games after almost hitting back-to-back tons.
