I Reached For His Feet, But He Stopped Me: Mumbai Indians Youngster On Meeting Sachin Tendulkar For The First Time

Indian legendary player Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday completed 49 years of journey of his life and received warm wishes from his fans, colleague, ex-teammates and many prominent personalities in the world.
Tendulkar remains the highest run-scorer in Tests and ODIs with 34,357 runs from 664 international games across all formats.
‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar turns 49
The iconic player announced his retirement from all formats of the game in 2013 and played his last Test series against West Indies on home soil. Tendulkar scored 84 runs from two innings at an average of 42, he made 74 from 118 balls in the final Test innings of his career at his home ground Wankhede.
After his retirement from cricket Tendulkar has been associated as the mentor of his former IPL team Mumbai Indians and has also appeared on the commentary panel for various cricket broadcasters.

In a video shared on Mumbai Indians’ Twitter handle, many youngsters wished the ‘God of Cricket’ on his 49th birthday and shared their personal experiences of meeting the batting great. 22-year-old Hrithik Shokeen, who recently made his IPL debut against Chennai Super Kings, narrated the incident when he went to touch his feet.
“When I met him for the first time, I reached for his feet. But he stopped me and said, ‘Don’t do that. Don’t touch my feet.’ But for me, he is God. I have been seeing him ever since I was a small child,” Shokeen said in the video.
“When he was giving me tips, I initially couldn’t even hear him because I was shocked that I was talking to him. After that, I realised, that I should listen and not just gape at him in awe,” Shokeen further said.

Shokeen registered figures 0/23 on his IPL debut against CSK, although he couldn’t pick a wicket but bowled an economical spell to build the pressure on the opposition. CSK eventually won by three wickets after veteran player MS Dhoni‘s firepower helped them to turn the table.
