The IPL 2022 mega auction will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. South Africa with 48 players has the second-highest number of players from overseas countries to have enrolled in the auction. A total of 1214 cricketers have registered for the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auction.
It includes 896 Indians and 318 overseas. To further break it down, the list includes 270 capped, 903 uncapped, and 41 Associate players. Meanwhile, in this article, we will take a look at five players from South Africa who might fetch big money in the IPL 2022 auction.
IPL 2022 Auction: 5 South African Players Who Can Get The Highest Bid In Mega Auction
Quinton De Kock
De Kock ended the ODI series against India as the Man of The Series. A proven performer in the IPL, De Kock was released by Mumbai Indians despite performing well for the franchise. This opens an opportunity for the other teams to rope in the South African keeper batsmen. Almost all the teams would be looking to buy him given that he is an attacking opener and his glovework is neat behind the stumps.
Rassie Van der Dussen
Van der Dussen was all set to join the Rajasthan Royals, but Cricket South Africa denied giving the NOC to him. He has his chance again as he is one among the 48 Protean players to have enrolled for the auction. Given the form he has shown in the recently concluded series against India, franchises would be keen to sign him up in the mega auction. He has shown that he can bat in the middle-order with responsibility.
Kagiso Rabada
Rabada was released by Delhi Capitals despite picking over 50 wickets for the franchise in the last two seasons. He has been a matchwinner in the IPL and certainly can be a boost for any side he played for. Now that he is released and comes into the auction, almost all the teas would look to go all out for the South African superstar.
Tabraiz Shamsi
Shamsi was a part of the RCB in IPL 2016. He played for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021. Being a leg spinner with an unorthodox action, Shamsi is a difficult bowler to read for many batsmen. He has been posing problems for the top-class batters regularly. He played in the recently concluded ODI series against India and was amongst the wickets. He can certainly be a good addition to any side.
