BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has reacted to the IPL 2022 being successfully hosted in India. The tournament was played entirely in the UAE in 2020 and had to be shifted halfway through IPL 2021 in the UAE again due to the rapid rise of covid cases in India.
The BCCI was keen on hosting the IPL 2022 in India and it panned out very well. To limit issues with travel, the board decided to host the IPL 2022 season entirely in the state of Maharashtra.

A total of 70 league matches were played across the four venues in Maharashtra in IPL 2022. 20 matches each were played at the Wankhede Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium while 15 each at the Brabourne Stadium and the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator were played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium hosted the Qualifier 2 and the final on May 29.
Gujarat Titans beat Rajasthan Royals to win the IPL title in their debut season. The Royals posted a paltry 130 batting first which was chased down inside 19 overs by the Titans who win by seven wickets. Titans skipper Hardik Pandya was named the Man of the Match for his three wickets with the ball and an unbeaten 34 with the bat.

Jay Shah meanwhile congratulated the entire Gujarat Titans squad and management for winning the IPL title. He also said that the IPL 2022 was a truly memorable season.
