Former England captain Michael Vaughan recommended that Rohit, who is presently the captain of India, take a rest if the team is thrown out of competition for a place in the knockout rounds after a couple of extra games.

“This year, it’s just the Mumbai effort that isn’t operating. It’s now at the point where I believe it’s worthwhile for them all to bring in more inexperienced players to give them more exposure.”

“Just to see if they can find a couple more fantastic young talents. And then, if you lose another few, I believe Rohit Sharma should take a break,” during an interview with Cricbuzz, Vaughan stated.

Just take a breather and take your time: Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan suggested Rohit Sharma to “take a rest.”

“Just take a breath.’ Simply relax and take your time. You have to pick and choose when you can take a break because they play so much cricket. And if Mumbai can’t qualify for the playoffs in a couple of games, which is utterly inconceivable, it’s over now,” he added.

“These players are playing so much high-profile game that Rohit Sharma would serve himself and India’s captaincy better by taking a break from the game for a couple of games,” he said.

Rohit Sharma has been out of sorts this season, failing to score a half-century. He has the best score of 41.

On Sunday, the Mumbai Indians will face the Lucknow Super Giants.
