Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar stored rich applause on T Natarajan, saying the left-arm pacer is rising with courage in IPL 2022 subsequent to having beaten injury issues. Gavaskar said Natarajan will surely be a contender for national team selection and that the pacer is putting the hard yards, focusing on the T20 World Cup not long from now.

It Looked Like Indian Cricket Had Lost Him: Sunil Gavaskar Happy To See T Natarajan Back

Natarajan has bowled with a decent speed and has been striking both in the powerplay and during slog overs for SRH, who have ridden on a balanced bowling assault to join up a 5-game undefeated run.

“We all know his yorkers are his specialty but he held the ball back well. It’s good to see him back because for some time it looked like Indian cricket had lost him.

“It’s good to have him back in contention. I am pretty sure, with the way he bowls between the 16th and the 20th over, he will be very much in contention,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.

T Natarajan Is Looking More Confident Than Ever: Sunil Gavaskar

Natarajan, who had a fantastic run in Australia in 2020-21, last played for India in March 2021. A knee injury cut off his stretch with SRH in the first half of IPL 2021. He was hit by Covid-19 preceding the UAE leg and he could play only 2 games.

Impeded by a repeat of a knee injury, Natarajan couldn’t be a consistent for Tamil Nadu in the domestic white-ball competitions recently.

Be that as it may, having buckled down on his wellness and abilities, Natarajan is looking more sure than any other time, as per Gavaskar.

“Last year, perhaps, he wasn’t on top of his game. Right now, he is full of confidence. He has had his share of injuries but he is fresh and raring to go. He recognizes that there is a World Cup coming up, he wants to be on that flight to Australia,” he added.

Natarajan was not held by SRH in front of the IPL 2022mega auction, however, the previous bosses repurchased the pacer for Rs 4 crore and the 31-year-old has reimbursed the confidence displayed in him by the administration.
