Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith believes that Delhi Capitals (DC) should consider upgrading Rishabh Pant to number three in the batting order in future IPL 2022 matches.

Pant struggled to get going early in his team’s six-wicket loss to Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday, eventually scoring 39 off 36 balls in his team’s below-par 149/3 in 20 overs. With yorkers and slower balls, Jason Holder and Avesh Khan pinned him down.

“In every game, Rishabh gets a start” Although the strike rate has not yet materialized, everyone must remain patient. After losing a couple of wickets today (Thursday), DC needed to rebuild, but the powerful end never materialized. Smith stated, “They needed to reach a total of 170-180.”

Graeme Smith had a different opinion when asked if Delhi should keep Pant at number four. “Perhaps promoting Rishabh is the way to go.” Get him to No. 3 and relieve some of the pressure by giving him more time. Maybe he’ll be able to set the tone and not have to think too hard this way.

Pant has yet to score big in the IPL 2022, although his wicketkeeping peers Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, and Dinesh Karthik have all put in strong efforts.

Graeme Smith, who won the first IPL with Rajasthan Royals in 2008, believes Pant’s poor start in IPL 2022 will not influence his place in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

“Despite the success of Samson, DK, and Kishan, I don’t see Rishabh Pant missing out.” It’ll all come down to combinations in the end. Who is chosen will be determined by the circumstances and the opponents they will face.

Pant must be present. Pant must be included. He will play for India in all formats for a long time. He’s going to be a big deal.
