Jason Holder’s game is set apart by tranquility and poise, not at all like the lighthearted and courageous soul that West Indian cricketers have generally encapsulated.

The former West Indies skipper got a bumper deal when Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bagged him up for ₹8.75 crores at the mega auction in February this year. This is his fourth franchise in the money-rich league, which went before by stretches at Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Collaborating with plenty of major advantages, Holder had his impact in LSG’s third-place finish in the league stage and is supposed to set up one more noteworthy all-round show when they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens today evening.

Gautam Gambhir Has Not Changed Much: Jason Holder

In an exclusive talk with Sportskeeda on Tuesday night, the 30-year-old talked about the impact of LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir and since they have previously worked together at KKR, how much has the former Indian opener changed. The LSG all-rounder opined:

“To be honest, GG hasn’t changed much (laughs)! He’s still a fierce competitor. He’s one of those people who always wants to win and is very astute in terms of his knowledge and tactics. It has been great to reunite with him at LSG. I first met him in 2016 and it has been an absolute honour to work with him.”

“One of the things that stands out about him is his fierceness. He’s firm in his decisions and demands excellence from the boys, which is needed in order to be successful at this level.”

Jason Holder Not Justifying His Batting Talent

Jason Holder was picked up by the LSG as a bowling all-rounder but the big West-Indian has failed to provide with the bat this season. He has been able to score just 58 runs in 8 innings at an average of just 9.66. He would be looking to improve his batting average in the next game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Meanwhile, he has 14 wickets to his name so far in 12 innings, averaging 27.92. But the former West Indies skipper is conceding 9.42 runs per over, which is a thing of concern for the KL Rahul-led side.

However, the T20I home series against England, which the Windies won 3-2 recently, is a demonstration of Jason Holder’s upgraded esteem in the shortest format.

The tall Barbadian completed the series with 15 wickets at 9.6 runs per over, including career-best figures of 5/27 in the initial game and four wickets in back-to-back balls in the decider.
