IPL 2022: If Sunrisers Hyderabad Bat First, They Might Be In Trouble: Aakash Chopra
Sunrisers Hyderabad have won 5 games on the trot after losing their first two games in IPL 2022. All of their wins have come chasing the target. Former India opener, Aakash Chopra hence feels that if SRH bats first they could find themselves in trouble considering they haven’t batted first in the tournament.
SRH have been chasing well as apart from their captain Kane Williamson, everyone else is in fine form.
Spin Bowling Is Their Weak Link: Aakash Chopra
Chopra also feels that Jagdeesha Suchith could be one player who could be targeted by Gujarat Titans batters. Suchith has picked up 4 wickets in 3 games but he isn’t really a 4 over the bowler.
He has replaced Washington Sundar in the side after Sundar got injured earlier in the tournament.
Even though Suchith could prove to be the weak link, SRH pacers have been in top form.
“Spin department is SRH’s weak link. I feel Jagadeesha Suchith might get exposed in this match at the Wankhede Stadium. If it is not the same surface where Mumbai faced Lucknow, the ball will not grip and turn.
“And, if Suchith comes up against Hardik Pandya or David Miller, he could be taken to the cleaners. Expect some big sixes”, Chopra said in his preview show on YouTube.
On SRH’s pace department he said: “Everyone in the pace bowling department is doing their job. Marco Jansen is not your gun T20 bowler but dismissed three RCB batters in one over.
“Bhuvneshwar Kumar is not at the peak of his powers, but he is there or thereabouts. T Natarajan also seems to claim a wicket in the powerplay. Umran Malik is a superfast express and now he is picking up wickets as well.”
As mentioned above, Aakash is apprehensive about how SRH batters might play if they bat first, as he said: “Rahul Tripathi is a gun player. He is the strength of the team. When he plays well, like he did against KKR, a lot of their weaknesses get dwarfed. Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran and Shashank Singh form the rest of the batting. That’s about it. If SRH has to bat first, they will be in trouble.”
Kane Williamson has been pretty lucky with the tosses this season. He would hope to win another toss so that his team can do best what they are doing till now.
