Former India National Cricket Team head coach Ravi Shastri has come up with a crucial piece of advice for budding cricketers and said that the players should forget about the money they receive from the Indian Premier League (IPL) as it comes and goes.

The 59-year-old Ravi Shastri will be part of the commentary team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after his exit from the India National Cricket Team as head coach.

Meanwhile, speaking at a press conference ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 Shastri said that there will be additional pressure on players if they start thinking about money.

“It is important to forget the money part of it. That’s come and gone. You have to go back to the basics and start from scratch. It is easier said than done. If you start living in the memory of how much you made, that is going to create extra pressure on you,” he said.

It is a great opportunity for selectors to see how these youngsters captain their sides – Ravi Shastri

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri said that the India National Cricket Team selection committee will be looking closely at the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya, who will be leading their respective teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, in the search for a new Indian captain as Indian all-format captain Rohit Sharma will not get any younger.

“India will be looking closely at the newcomers who will be captaining teams — whether it is Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya. I know Rishabh over the last few years, he has got one hell of a cricket brain.”

“It is a great opportunity for selectors to see how these youngsters captain their sides because India will be looking for a solid captain for the future.

“Rohit is still around for the next couple of years but after that, they will look for a good white-ball captain and here is the opportunity,” he said during the same presser.
