Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mohsin Khan revealed that he has been a huge fan of former Indian pacer, Zaheer Khan. He termed Zaheer as his ‘role model’ and has also had the pleasure of spending time with him.

Mohsin has been one of the finds of the IPL 2022 season playing for Lucknow. The 23-year-old had spent three seasons developing his skill with Mumbai Indians (MI) before LSG gave him a chance.

The youngster grabbed the opportunity with both hands and secured his spot in the team. He has the best economy in the powerplay this season (5.25 rpo) and has also taken 14 wickets in just 9 matches.

Zaheer Khan [is my role model]. I have grown up watching him and spent a lot of time with him,” Mohsin was quoted as saying in an exclusive interview with the Times of India.

My desire, since the beginning, from the time I have taken a ball in hand, has been to bowl fast. I have not focused as much on swing and seam as on pace. I will keep bowling fast. Bowling fast is key,” he added.

“When negative things enter the mind, one needs to keep one’s focus” – Mohsin Khan

Mohsin had a tough season after injuring his shoulder which set him back quite a bit. He had to reset and get back into the thick of things and what he learned during this time is quite invaluable, as the pacer says.

The toughest time I have had so far is the two years when I injured my shoulder after my under-16s. I learned a lot – how to keep fit, motivate, and back myself.”

When negative things enter the mind, one needs to keep one’s focus. In those times, apney aap ka bahut zyada dhyan rakhna padta hai [one has to take extra care of themselves],” Mohsin observed.
