IPL 2022: KL Rahul Moves Past Virat Kohli, Equals Rohit Sharma In List Of Indian Players With Most T20 Centuries

On Sunday, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul smashed his second century of the IPL 2022 season to help his side over the line against the 5-time champions.

In the process, Rahul went past Virat Kohli’s total of 5 centuries in T20 cricket and is now on par with Rohit Sharma for the most number of centuries by an Indian player in the shortest format of the game.
Earlier on April 16, Rahul scored 103* against MI and he replicated his performance against Rohit and co. at the Wankhede on former Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar’s birthday.
He contributed more than 50% of the runs in LSG’s total of 168, scoring 12 fours and 4 maximums in his 62-ball 103. The target was too steep for the struggling Mumbai team to chase and they ended up falling short by 36 runs.
With the ball in hand, Krunal Pandya did the star turn for LSG as he ended with impressive figures of 3/19 in four overs. The win takes LSG to fourth place on the points table with 5 wins in 8 matches.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Rahul said the plan for the auction is in full motion. “Teams that can defend well, or bowl well in the powerplay and finish off well in the death overs are teams that have won the tournament.”
“We were very clear going into the auctions – I’m big on having allrounders in the team. Having them in the team makes my life easier with the options,” he said.
