IPL 2022: Losing 7 In A Row Means They Are Out Of The Tournament, Really - Sunil Gavaskar After MI's 7th Straight Loss

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar believes that Mumbai Indians (MI) will be devastated by their performance and are pretty much certainly out of the IPL 2022 playoff qualification spots.
MI lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Thursday night which happened to be their 7th in a row. It is now the worst-ever start to a season for an IPL franchise, going past Delhi Daredevils (6 games in 2013) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (6 games in 2019).
“They will be down in the dumps. They are a champions team, they have won this trophy five times. So, obviously, they will all be very upset. To lose seven in a row means that they are out of the tournament, really.”

“With this kind of record what are they going to do in the next seven. They will have to play out of this world cricket to win the next seven. And their confidence seems low,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.
“He has gone 7 innings without scoring the kind of runs that we all expect from him” – Sunil Gavaskar on Rohit Sharma
MI skipper Rohit Sharma has also been quite poor. He has shown glimpses of his true self but hasn’t contributed anything worthwhile and the champion team is suffering as a result.
“Form is invariably one innings away. He has gone 7 innings without scoring the kind of runs that we all expect from him. But you can regain your form in just one innings. That’s what Mumbai Indians have to keep hoping for. What it will do also, it will make an impact on the rest of the team.”

“When he scores runs, you can be pretty certain that the team will post big totals. He is the kind of person who will go on to get into the 80s and 90s. His form is important for MI,” he further added.
