IPL 2022: Rahul Tripathi Has Potential To Go All The Way In International Cricket, Says Matthew Hayden

Former Australia opener Matthew Hayden said he is dazzled with Rahul Tripathi’s ball-striking, saying the SunRisers Hyderabad player’s capacity to hit them all around the ground makes him a perilous hitter.
Matthew Hayden supported 31-year-old Rahul Tripathi to get along nicely at the international level, backing him to get the India cap sooner than later.
Hayden’s remarks came after Tripathi played a game dominating thump of 76 in only 44 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 9 boundaries for SRH in their must-win IPL 2022 game against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, May 17 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Yet again Tripathi had the chance to stroll into bat in the powerplay, this time after skipper Kane Williamson downgraded himself. Tripathi, who came in at No. 3 after the early wicket of Abhishek Sharma, held hands with comeback man Priyam Garg and attacked the Mumbai Indians’ bowling line-up.
Tripathi took the assault to Jasprit Bumrah too, parading his ability to hit the short-pitched balls into the stands effortlessly.
“I just love his ability to up front so hard. I think that’s what has been really missing inside the SRH batting line-up. That powerplay is so significant. especially when the wickets are getting slower, so the first 6 overs, you have to make use of it. It was a really good leadership decision as well to get back down the order,” Hayden told Star Sports.
Tripathi has been one of the consistent batters in the IPL. Having been a point of support for the Kolkata Knight Riders batting unit previously, Tripathi has driven the SRH batting unit in his debut spell with the former champs. The Maharashtra player has scored 393 runs in 13 matches at a staggering strike rate of more than 160.
There have been calls to include Tripathi for the T20I side for the upcoming 5-game series against South Africa and back him with opportunities in the lead up to the T20 World Cup in Australia not long from now.
Rahul Tripathi’s Ability To Play Short-pitched Bowling Impresses Matthew Hayden
Hayden featured that Tripathi’s ability to play short-pitched bowling effortlessly will hold him in great stead, given he gets the valuable chance to go to Australia in the coming months.
“The way Tripathi took up the responsibility was good to watch. I think he has got some real potential in the future to go all the way at the international level. He is someone that is a dangerous striker of the ball, he can hit both sides of the wicket. In particular, what impresses the most is his ability to play short-pitched bowling.
“I mean, getting to Australia, let’s just take the liberty to say that’s where it is, not saying he will be picked, but he has the game on bouncy wickets,” Hayden added.
