IPL 2022: Ravi Shastri Praises Bhuvneshwar Kumar As India's All-Format Player

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is referred to as India’s all-format player by Ravi Shastri. He also claims to be the season’s best bowler.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s ability as a seamer was never in question. Fitness issues have been the only stumbling factor along the way.

Bhuvi made his IPL debut in 2011 for Pune. With a bowling speed of 125kmph, he didn’t appear to be a fast bowler but now that his pace has increased to 140kmph, he has perfected the Yorker and slower balls, and has even added the ‘Knuckle ball’ to his arsenal. On a Wicket with a little seam movement, Bhuvneshwar is as good as anyone else in the world.

Ravi Shastri believes, “Bhuvi’s disposition has improved tremendously in the last year. He’s adjusted to becoming the captain’s go-to guy on most occasions and is looking forward to the challenge. Even when bowling the final over with only a few runs to defend, he rarely makes fundamental errors.”

In the 19th over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a wicket maiden to help Sunrisers Hyderabad win the match.
Mumbai Indians needed 19 runs from the penultimate over but finished three runs short. The victory kept the Sunrisers in the league, even if their chances of making the playoffs are limited.
During an interview with ESPN Cricinfo, Ravi Shastri said: “Not at all surprised. I always argue with Bhuvi whenever we meet. I believe that if he can just concentrate and work harder on his fitness, experience, and ability in all formats of the game, he can achieve incredible results.”

“I told him that the guy was unfit every time we traveled England or New Zealand. You’ve dropped 50 red-ball Wickets in the last couple of years,” I said. But, forget about the Sunrisers, if he stays fit, he’ll be an obvious choice for the Indian team,” Ravi Shastri added.
SunRisers upset Mumbai Indians by three runs on the night, surviving a scare from Tim David, who single-handedly hauled Mumbai back into the match with an incredible 46-off 18-balls knock. This harmed SRH’s chances of winning by a large margin, lowering their table NRR.
