The 8 IPL teams have retained as many as 27 players ahead of the big Mega Auction 2022. The franchises have spent a total of INR 269 crores for these 27 players. Notably, out 27, 19 are Indians while 8 are overseas players.
The franchises have retained mostly the veteran players, the ones who have been a part of them for very long. Notably, only one uncapped player i.e., Yashasvi Jaiswal has been retained out of 27 players. All the other youngsters will go back into the Mega Auctions 2022.
Apart from the proven performances, franchises will also have their eyes on the young talents. On that note, here’s a look at five uncapped batsmen who might cause a bidding war at the Mega Auctions.
IPL 2022 Retention: 5 Indian Uncapped Bowlers Who Might Cause a Bidding War
Despite playing some stellar knocks for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2021, Rahul Tripathi wasn’t retained by the franchise for next year. Rahul Tripathi returned with mediocre performances in the first half of the IPL 2021 but wreaked havoc during the second leg.
He played some sensational knocks and capitalized on the starts provided by the openers in UAE. He was the second-highest run-scorer for KKR in IPL 2021, having managed 397 runs in 17 matches at a strike rate of 140.28. His ability to bat at different positions would also tempt the franchises to go after him.
Rahul Tripathi is one of the highly talented uncapped batsmen who could attract a bidding war at the auctions.
