Shikhar Dhawan is serious about joining India’s T20 World Cup squad in 2022. In the shortest format, Dhawan has not represented India since July 2021. Dhawan believes that a strong performance for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022 can help him reclaim a berth in India’s T20I squad.

Shikhar Dhawan has indeed been missing from the Indian T20 squad for a certain time. He finished playing in ODIs against the West Indies at home, however, he was unable to secure a place in the team for the shorter format, despite India having played six matches in the previous month.

Dhawan is aiming to travel to Australia for the T20 World Cup, which will be held later this year. He thinks that if he performs well in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), he would be able to qualify for the huge ICC event’s final 15.

“The T20 World Cup is just around the corner.” I’m confident that if I perform well in the IPL, I’ll be able to make the team. Process is really important to me. Goals aren’t something I set for myself. Until then, I’m loving my game – and by that, I mean from the standpoints of fitness, game, and attitude – and it’s working best for me if I’m having fun on all of these fronts.”

“Right now, I’m in that zone. So, I’m making sure my process is really solid, and I’m achieving everything I need to effortlessly,” Dhawan was quoted as adding.

IPL could be a terrific opportunity  to perform for Shikhar Dhawan:

Dhawan sees the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season as a great chance to reclaim his spot in India’s T20I squad. In an interview, Shikhar Dhawan expressed confidence in his new franchise’s ability to produce a successful season. If he performs well in the T20 competition, he has a good chance of regaining a spot in the Indian team.

Even if he isn’t selected for the T20 World Cup, the 36-year-old claimed he won’t let it alter his current frame of mind.

“I feel confident in my ability to do well in the IPL.” And if I do that, I’ll be in contention for a spot in the World Cup squad. Perhaps I will, perhaps I will not; only time will tell. But none of that will have an impact on my mental state,” he continued.

Dhawan went on to discuss the modifications he made to his thinking process. He admitted that he used to ‘compete intensely,’ but that he has since stopped chasing and has begun to view setbacks positively.

Dhawan will play with a new franchise this year after being signed by the Punjab Kings at the IPL 2022 auction after a great tenure with the Delhi Capitals.
