2016 was arguably the best year Kohli had in terms of numbers in T20 cricket. He won the Orange Cap in the IPL by scoring 973 runs in the season. He was also declared the Player of the Tournament for the T20 WC held in India.

While RCB lost the final to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, the Indian team lost to the West Indies in the SF at the T20 WC.

It Was Heartbreaking To Lose Those Two Games: Virat Kohli

“IPL final 2016 (when asked about the game that broke his heart) and that same year, 2016 World Cup semifinal at Wankhede against West Indies,” said Kohli in the video.

Virat scored the maximum runs for India in the WC and also scored the highest runs in the SF yet the team couldn’t contain WI as they chased down 73 runs in the last 6 overs.

Kohli was also asked about his happy memories if he had any, to which he replied: “The last game that we played in 2016 against Delhi in Raipur. And then the very next qualifier, when AB played a gun knock and Iqbal was with him on the other end. The celebration after that game was the most special that I have ever experienced.”

RCB needed to win against Delhi Daredevils to qualify for the payoffs. Kohli scored a 50 and saw his side through. In the qualifier against Gujarat Lions, RCB was struggling at one time but an innings of a lifetime by AB de Villiers saved the day for RCB.

Kohli was also asked about how would he react if he woke up as Christiano Ronaldo one day, to which he said: “Cristiano Ronaldo! I would do a scan of my brain [if he was Ronaldo] and see where all that mental strength comes from (smiles).”

Kohli has in the past many times has expressed that Ronaldo is one of his favorite sportspersons.
