IPL 2022: Very Pleased To Have Young Fast Bowlers Step Up - Faf du Plessis After Akash Deep's Performance In Intra-Squad Match

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis lavished praise on the 25-year-old Indian pacer, Akash Deep, stating that his pace was extremely good and it inspires faith in the bowling attack when the youngsters step up.
Du Plessis took over as the captain after Virat Kohli stepped down following the conclusion of the IPL 2021 season. In his first stint as the skipper, du Plessis will be keen to make an impact and with players like Akash by his side, it is certainly possible.
“DK (Dinesh Karthik) was really good but I was impressed the most with Akash Deep. He was excellent with the new ball, bowled very good hard lengths. I was surprised by his pace as well. It is very pleasing for us to have young fast bowlers stepping up,” du Plessis said.
Additionally, the Purple Cap winner of the IPL 2021 season, Harshal Patel, was also satisfied with the outing in the practice game. Harshal was bought by RCB for INR 10.75 crores in the mega auction.
“Very clinical skills on show. I’m very happy with the way things panned out. We keep the intensity going and slowly get into the tournament,” Harshal said.
Director of Cricket Operations, Mike Hesson, pointed out that the fielding can be improved going into the season but overall, the performances were up to the mark.
“It was a good exercise. Fielding was a decent standard but we can improve the intensity. Overall, a very valuable exercise and a really good squad day,” Hesson observed.
