IPL 2022: Want My Son To Play In The World Cup: Umran Malik's Father

Umran Malik has been breathing fire in IPL 2022. He has been amongst the fastest bowler in the league. He definitely is the fastest Indian pace bowler in the tournament so far.
He is consistently touching speeds over 140KMPH. There is no surprise therefore that more than 90 per cent of his deliveries this season have been bowled at more than 140KMPH.
He started the tournament waywardly as he went for runs in the first couple of games but has since made a good comeback as he found his rhythm and the right line and length to bowl.
He has already picked up 10 wickets in the 7 games that he has played in the season so far.
His father, Abdul Rashid is a proud man as after his son’s exploits against Punjab Kings recently he got a lot of congratulatory messages and greetings. Umran Malik had bowled the final over in the first innings and picked up 3 wickets, the best part about the over was that he didn’t give a single run in the over.
He became just the 4th bowler in the history of the tournament to not concede a single run of his bowling in the final over of an innings.
Umran Has Made Me Popular in Jammu: Abdul Rashid

“Umran always wanted to become a fast bowler, he used to run hard and bowl as fast as possible, he used to dip the ball in the water and then bowl as fast as he could”, Rashid Told Times of India.
Rashid further told the outlet that since Umran was the fastest bowler in the circuit, there were always fights between kids as to which team he goes to. He told the media outlet that he won many prizes and trophies in local tournaments.
Irfan Pathan’s Role In Umran Malik’s Rise
Abdul Samad had already played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was the one who introduced Umran to Irfan Pathan, who was associated with the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team a couple of years ago.
Irfan Pathan instantly spotted the talent of Umran and noticed that Umran does have raw pace. All he needed was guidance. It was then Irfan took Umran under his wings.
“Irfan Pathan gave Umran the chance to showcase his potential, he guided him, I remember Irfan said to me that Umran’s action is similar to Waqar Younis’s and after that, he took Umran under him,” Rashid further told TOI.
Umran Malik had the opportunity to meet the likes of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. He also spent time with the Indian team as a net bowler during the T20 World Cup last year. Umran was told by the two legends of the game that he is the future of Indian cricket. And Umran Malik’s father is proud of that fact.
“I want my son to play in the Indian jersey. In the World Cup. I’m sure he is on the right track”, concluded Umran’s father.
Umran Malik is under the tutelage of Dale Steyn at SRH. He sure will get to learn a lot more from one of the greatest fast bowlers of the modern era.
