Jay Shah Drops Massive Hint Regarding Women's IPL

The Women’s IPL has been a massive subject of debate over the years in Indian cricket. The BCCI is hosting the Women’s T20 Challenge since 2018 as a progressive step towards hosting the Women’s IPL. However, despite the best efforts of the BCCI, the dream has not yet materialised.

Another successful season of the Women’s T20 Challenge in Pune came to an end with the Harmenpreet Kaur-led Supernovas winning their third title by beating Velocity in the final. Bowling the final over Sophie Ecclestone defended 17 to help the Supernovas win their third title.

Meanwhile, the crowd in Pune witnessed a close encounter between two teams as the match right down to the wire. Batting first, the Supernovas scored 165/7 with Kaur scoring 43 off 29 after Deandra Dottin’s 62 opening the batting.

In the chase, Laura Wolvaardt scored an unbeaten 65 and along with Simran Bahadur showed outstanding fighting spirit, especially the latter who hit three fours in a row in the 19th over to bring the equation down to 17 needed off 6. However, Sophie kept a cool head to take her team over the line. The fans in Pune chanted Women’s IPL after seeing an enthralling contest between the two teams.

The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah tweeted after the game about the next season being an even better one hinting about the start of the much-awaited Women’s IPL next season.

Meanwhile, Sunday will witness the IPL 2022 final between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans amid the presence of all the eminent officials from the BCCI. The players from Rajasthan Royals 2008 squad will also be felicitated ahead of the start of the final.
