KKR vs PBKS: Shikhar Dhawan, Mayank Agarwal Are The Best Opening Partners - Bhanuka Rajapaksa

Making his IPL debut for Punjab Kings against RCB, Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 43 off just 22 balls as they chased down 206 required for victory with an over to spare at the DY Patil stadium. It was a brilliant chase as the Kings’ batsmen kept up to the required rate and finished the match with an over to spare.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa came into bat at number three after Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal added a 71-run opening stand. His cameo included two fours and four sixes as he took a special liking to his Sri Lankan teammate Wanindu Hasaranga.

Ahead of Punjab’s next match against KKR on April 1 at the Wankhede stadium, the southpaw spoke to the Times of India exclusively. He praised the PBKS opening pair of Dhawan and Agarwal and that they are the best in this IPL.

“This is the best tournament in the world. I must say that Shikhar and Mayank are the best opening partners. Mayank is very enthusiastic as a captain. He knows how to use his players on the field. He is an extraordinary captain. I played with Mayank in my under-19 days. I know him. I also saw his good and bad days. His coordination with the boys as captain is remarkable. He is doing well as a captain at the moment,” said Rajapaksa.

This is the second game for Punjab Kings after their opening game win against RCB. Meanwhile, for KKR, this is their third game in the opening week of IPL 2022. They lost to RCB in their previous game and would look to come back to winning ways.

KKR are ahead against Punjab Kings in terms of head to head between the two teams. Out of the 29 games between both sides, KKR have won 19 while Punjab 10. Rajasthan Royals are topping the points table at the moment while the Kings are at three.
