KKR vs RR: The Comfortable Way In Which We Won Without Any Big Players Means That Our Playing XI Is Set – Nitish Rana

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) middle-order batsman Nitish Rana has said that the way they won comfortably over Rajasthan Royals (RR) without any big players shows that they have found the right combination and now KKR’s “playing XI is set”.

Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sanju Samson and co. by 7 wickets on Monday in the 47th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to end their 5-match losing streak.

Meanwhile, in the post-match presentation ceremony, Nitish Rana said that they have finally found the right combination after chopping and changing a lot of things in the team. He added that the knock that Rinku Singh played lent stability to KKR’s batting line-up. He asserted:

“We feel we have found the right combination. The comfortable way in which we won without any big players means that our playing XI is set. He (Rinku) has been on and off since he made his debut in 2018 and the knock he played has lent stability to our lineup.”

Notably, Rinku Singh scored 42 runs off 23 balls, including 6 fours and 1 six to bag the Player of the Match award.

Rana further added that questions will always be raised on the playing XI of a team especially if they keep losing. However, if a team is winning any playing XI is best.

“It’s understandable for people to raise questions about the playing XI, especially after defeats. Even we face doubts, but if we keep winning games, then any XI is the best,” Rana was quoted as saying in the post-match press conference.

Rana, who scored 48 runs against Rajasthan Royals, said that his batting approach depends on various factors of the match.

“My approach depends from game to game. I take into account the target, the bowling attack of opponents, the position I’m batting in and try to mould my game as per that. It’s been quite a while since I started playing the IPL and I’m trying to play the role of an anchor,” he added.
