Shaun Pollock, a former South African pacer, feels the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be dissatisfied with their third-place finish in the points table.
The KL Rahul-led side spent the bulk of the competition in the top two spots but just lost out on qualifying for Qualifier 1 against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Although got the same number of points, LSG placed behind RR due to a net run-rate difference of +0.44. For the new team, the finish necessitates a lengthier path to the final. A crushing defeat to fellow debutants Gujarat Titans (GT) slashed their net run rate significantly.

If the KL Rahul-led side were to win the IPL trophy in their first season, they must win 3 straight knockout games. The three-time finalists Royal Challengers Bangalore are their first opponent (RCB).

“After finishing third, LSG would have been dissatisfied.”

“They had a simple path to follow at one point. They had men in good shape. Their batters haven’t been fiery enough, in my opinion. Their bowling possibilities have impressed me. For me, Mohsin Khan was a fantastic find. Chameera’s absence stunned me. So far, Stoinis and Holder haven’t shown much with the bat,” Shaun Pollock Added.
The opening duo of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock have done the brunt of the batting. The two have a combined total of 1039 runs this season, putting them among the top three run-scorers.
On May 25, the new franchise will meet RCB in their first knockout encounter at Eden Gardens in Kolkata (Wednesday).
