Kolkata Knight Riders Went Back To Its Initial Opening Pair

Rahane after scoring a fifty earlier in the season has not found the form at all. He had a good Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but in the IPL he has been poor.

Earlier in the day, KKR made 5 changes to their side. They once again changed their opening pair as both Aaron Finch and Baba Indrajith were dropped from the side.

KKR went back to Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane who started the season for KKR at the top of the order. Although Iyer found some form as he hit 43 off 24 balls, Rahane struggled to get going. Rahane struck at just 104. 17. In trying to accelerate the scoring rate he tried a reverse sweep against Kartikeya but he completely misread the delivery. The ball hit the off stump.

Kartikeya has come in as a replacement player for MI and as soon as he joined the squad the Madya Pradesh born player has been included in the playing XI. He did well against Rajasthan Royals in his very first game as he went for just 19 runs in 4 overs. He also got the wicket of Sanju Samson. And kept Jos Buttler quiet who has been in fantastic form throughout this season.

He took some beating in the last game but has made a good comeback as he picked his MP teammate Venkatesh Iyer after being hit for a six. He then accounted for Rahane’s dismissal.

KKR have very little chance to make it to the playoffs and with so many changes to their XI in every game; they are yet to find the right balance.
