Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants, LSG Playing 11 vs MI (Predicted), IPL 2022, Match 26, MI vs LSG. MI vs LSG, the 26th match of Tata IPL 2022 is scheduled to be played at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai from 3:30 PM IST on 16 April 2022. (Saturday)
Mumbai Indians have lost five consecutive matches on the trot in the ongoing IPL 2022, and with 4 losses more, they will be out of the race to determine the top four for playoffs. However, Mumbai Indians have returned from this position to win the IPL trophy previously. This shall boost their confidence at least a bit.
They have found two uncapped talented middle-order batters in Proteas batter Dewald Brevis and uncapped Indian batter Tilak Varma. Suryakumar Yadav is also playing exceptionally, but the senior players Kieron Pollard and Rohit Sharma have not been fired so far, due to which Mumbai Indians sit in the last place in the points table. Apart from this, Mumbai Indians lack depth in the bowling department, with pacer Jofra Archer not available to play in the tournament.
On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants runs a fabulous campaign with 3 wins in 5 matches. The two matches they lost were close encounters that could have gone either way. Ayush Badoni, the find of the season, along with Deepak Hooda and Marcus Stoinis form a deep batting line-up for the team.
Lucknow’s bowling unit is equally excellent, with Avesh Khan, Dushmantha Chameera, and Jason Holder not giving away much to the batters. The only concern they face is KL Rahul’s inconsistency and below-par strike rate in the tournament. Going further, the Lucknow skipper needs to rise up to the occasion and guide his team to the victory.
Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants, LSG Playing 11 vs MI (Predicted), IPL 2022, Match 26, MI vs LSG
KL Rahul
KL Rahul has been Mr. Consistent of IPL in the last couple of seasons, scoring over 500 runs in each of the last four editions. LSG would want their skipper back in the 2018 form though, the season where he had scored 659 runs at 54.91 at a strike rate of 158.41.
The right-handed batsman was picked as a draft player by the team. Last season, he was part of Punjab Kings. He scored 626 runs in 13 games. He has amassed 132 runs in 5 IPL 2022 games averaging 26.4.
Quinton de Kock
Roped in for INR 6.75 crore, the South African international Quinton de Kock has been one of the most prolific overseas batting options in recent times in IPL. Last season, the left-handed batsman was part of Mumbai Indians. He scored 297 runs in 11 games at an average of 29.70.
In IPL 2022, he is Lucknow’s leading run-scorer with 188 runs averaging 37.6 with 2 fifties in 5 games.
Deepak Hooda
In the last three seasons, Deepak Hooda has evolved as a key middle-order batter, scoring 444 runs at a strike rate of almost 140. He also offers control in the middle overs with the ball. Deepak Hooda has amassed 155 runs averaging 31 in 5 games including 2 fifties in IPL 2022 and is Lucknow’s 2nd highest run-getter so far this season. He has also taken a solitary scalp.
Marcus Stoinis
Marcus Stoinis had scored an unbeaten 38 in the only match he played against Rajasthan, albeit in a losing cause as RR won by 3 runs after their pacer Kuldeep Sen successfully defended 15 runs in the last over. He wasn’t asked to bowl.
The Australian all-rounder made his way to Delhi Capitals for the IPL 2020 after he was bought for Rs 4.8 crores during the auction and went on to play two seasons for the franchise. He will now be donning the LSG colors after the franchise picked him ahead of the TATA IPL 2022 auction.
Ayush Badoni
Lucknow Super Giants’ all-rounder Ayush Badoni, 22, became the first player to notch up a 50-plus score on IPL debut while batting at the No.6 spot or below in the match against Gujarat Titans, albeit in a losing cause.
Ayush Badoni set alight the stage with his aggressive batting, hitting three sixes and four fours, and scoring 54 off 41 balls. He teamed up with Deepak Hooda, who scored 55 off 44 balls, including six fours and two sixes.
Ayush Badoni reached his maiden IPL half-century off 38 balls as Lucknow mustered a fighting 156-run total from being 25 for three. He scored 19 off 9 balls against CSK in the next match. He has scored 107 runs in 5 IPL 2022 games averaging 35.67.
Krunal Pandya
Lucknow will want Krunal Pandya to play the same role he used to play for Mumbai Indians all these years. Krunal Pandya, the spinner who can contribute with the bat as well was picked for Rs. 8.25 crores during the auction.
He was part of Mumbai Indians in the last season. He scored 143 runs in 12 games and picked 5 wickets. He has taken 3 scalps averaging 30.66 in IPL 2022 besides scoring 68 runs.
Jason Holder
Jason Holder, the former West Indies skipper who can bowl at any stage of the game and use the long handle to change the course of the match, is a solid addition to the Lucknow squad. Jason Holder has picked 5 scalps in 3 IPL 2022 games averaging 22.8.
Krishnappa Gowtham
After becoming the most expensive uncapped Indian cricketer in the history of IPL last year, all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham will now ply his trade for LSG, who bought him for INR 90 Lac. He did not get a game-time last season.
Krishnappa Gowtham has picked 3 scalps averaging 17.66 with the ball and has an economy rate of 6.62- both are the best so far among Lucknow’s bowlers who have taken wickets.
Dushmantha Chameera
Dushmantha Chameera, the Sri Lankan pacer can generate raw pace and trouble the batters with a fine yorker, and LSG, who have brought him on board for INR 2 Crore, will want him to set the stage on fire. He has picked 2 scalps so far in IPL 2022.
Ravi Bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi was one of the drafts picks for Lucknow. At 21 years of age, Ravi Bishnoi has been an exciting prospect in IPL and his impressive show in the last two seasons has handed him an opportunity in the Indian squad as well. He picked 4 scalps in 5 games in IPL 2022 averaging 34.5 at an impressive economy rate of 34.5.
Avesh Khan
He is one of the key players in the Lucknow set-up. The young pacer was bought by Lucknow for ₹10 crores at auction, up from a base price of ₹20 lakh, becoming the most expensive uncapped player at the event.
The Madhya Pradesh player was the second in the list of top wicket-takers last season, picking 24 wickets in 16 games at 18.75. He picked 8 scalps in 5 games averaging 19.75 but has been a tad too expensive (8.46). He is leading Lucknow’s wicket-takers this season.
